FAQ

FAQ

  • Do you take my insurance?

We work with most insurance companies to try to obtain the most of your insurance benefits.  We are in network with Delta Dental but are able to see patients from most other insurance companies as long as your policy allows in and out-of-network billing.

  • My insurance has hit its maximum, what does that mean?

Most dental plans have an annual policy maximum.  Where the insurance will not payout more in one year than that allowed amount.  This does not mean that you cannot receive treatment but that insurance may not pay their contractual portion.  Do not think of your dental insurance as comprehensive coverage for oral care.  Dental insurance is closer to a coupon book; you’ll get a discount here, a discount there, and eventually you may run out of coupons till the next year.

  • Is your office a cosmetic dental office?

There is no American Dental Association-recognized specialty in cosmetics.  While many offices elect to use this buzzword for marketing purposes, it does not necessarily reflect any certification or advanced education.  Our office feels that all dental work should be cosmetic.  We feel that not only should the disease be eliminated and function restored but all dental work should be esthetic and work to maximize our patient’s goals for their smile.  Dr. Hudson takes numerous continuing education courses each year to enhance his skills and provide you with the best possible esthetic outcome.

  • What should I expect at my first visit?

We ask that at your first visit you arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete our new patient paperwork or please fill it out in advance by printing it from our webpage.  After Dr. Hudson has reviewed your medical and dental history, we will take prescribed x-rays and complete dental charting.  Dr. Hudson will complete a comprehensive dental examination which includes assessing the health of the gums, checking the teeth for decay (cavities), cracks, and other pathology, and completing an oral cancer screening.  If your periodontal (gum) condition is healthy we will likely also complete cleaning at this first visit.  Dr. Hudson will also review with you your x-rays and discuss his findings from his examination.

Every patient is unique and some patients require a return visit to either begin their cleaning or finish their cleaning.  We may want more time to discuss your case together after a further review of x-rays and formulation of a treatment plan.  In these cases, our office will schedule a follow-up visit.

  • Does your office treat children?

Yes, we treat children beginning at 3 years of age.

  • My tooth hurts, do you see emergencies?

We make every effort to see emergency patients as soon as possible.  If you are experiencing a dental emergency, please call our office as early in the day as possible.
